The main objective of this research is to prioritize a general understanding of the Baltic States by establishing an independent structure of knowledge and information. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were not recognized by Korean society until very recent, so most of researches on those countries were forced to depend on previous analyses from other countries, and there is no clear reference to guide an academic approach in Korea. As the foundation of this research, a brief introduction for the history of the Baltic countries was appended to provide a better understanding of the main goal of this research. Although it was briefly mentioned in the previous paper, the language of the Baltic States was examined more intensively. While Latvia and Lithuania share similar properties of Balto-Slavic languages, Estonian language has its own uniqueness as a member of Finno-Ugric languages. While each language sustained its characteristics, it played a significant role in the culture and literature of the Baltic States. Some of major works which had huge influences on folklore, folk epic and modern literature around this region were mentioned already, so this paper is concentrated on traditional music festivals and their consequences. Even in traditional music festivals, these countries shared some of cultural traits while differentiated others simultaneously. Even though the literature of the Baltic States was forged by different kinds of foreign literature, German literature was the main protagonist in this play. Therefore, the influence of German-Baltic literature on the literature of the Baltic States was primarily discussed in this paper, from 16th century when a concept of humanism was brought to this region, until the end of 18th century when Baltic literature started to diverge in its own way. During this period, the concept of humanism, baroque and enlightenment was introduced in the field of Baltic literature, and with its adaptations, popular literature and nationalism of the Baltic States were formulated.
