[교육] Zambia - Education Enhancement Project : Environmental and Social Management Plan for Borehole Drilling at One Hundred and Twenty New Secondary Schools

The development objective of Education Enhancement Project for Zambia is to improve the quality of teaching and learning conditions in targeted primary and secondary schools and to increase access to secondary education focusing on girls. Some of the negative impacts include:(i) impact on air quality - mainly dust and fumes from machinery; (ii) impacts on water resources quality and quantity; (iii) impacts on land and soil- mainly oil and grease spills, and soil erosions; (iv) impacts on public health and occupational safety; (v) impacts on Biodiversity; (vi) visual impact; (vii) gender-based violence (GBV) and/or sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA); and (viii) child labour and protection. Some of the mitigation measures include: (i) sprinkle water on the ground and on earth stockpiles; (ii) prevent construction materials and other debris from entering waterways; (iii) ensure proper management of excavation and drilling activities; (iv) provide proper protective gears to all workers; (v) avoid cutting and destruction of trees and shrubs during the drill process; (vi) do not engage in clearance of site after works completion; (vii) SEA incidences, these will be reported through the GRM; and (viii) Ensuring no children are employed on site in accordance with national labour laws.
