In the latest GLOBOCAN 2020 report, breast cancer was currently the most prevalent cancer worldwide.1 Due to the high mortality rates from breast cancer (685,000 deaths in 2020), it has become the leading cause of cancer death among women. Breast cancer accounts for 11% of all cancers, with approximately 2.3 million cases diagnosed in women. The prevalence of breast cancer has increased by 20% since the previous report published in 2008, and the mortality rate increased by 14% globally.2 However, the global burden of breast cancer surveillance studies projections showed that the number of new cases is expected to increase by 40% to more than three million. In addition, breast cancer deaths will increase by 50% to one million by 2040.3 On the other hand, breast cancer is currently recognized as one of the leading causes of mortality among women in less developed countries. Breast cancer is the fifth cause of cancer-related deaths, and the most common cause of deaths in women in less developed countries and the second cause of cancer-related deaths after lung cancer in developed countries.
