The development objective of the Second Community Agriculture Resource Management and Competitiveness Project for Armenia is to: (i) improve productivity and sustainability of pasture and livestock systems in targeted communities; and (ii) increase the marketed production from selected livestock and high value agri-food value chains. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) workers’ personal protective equipment will comply with international good practice (helmets, masks, safety glasses, harnesses, and safety boots) for public awareness and worker safety; (2) during operations, keep the engine covers of generators, air compressors, and other powered mechanical equipment closed, and equipment placed as far away from residential areas as possible to avoid noise; (3) apply dust control measures during earth works and on access and service earth roads (like, spraying and moistening the ground); (4) establish appropriate erosion and sediment control measures (example, hay bales and or silt fences) to prevent sediment from moving off site and causing excessive turbidity in canalization and nearby streams and rivers; (5) plan for and undertake waste separation on-site; explore opportunities for recycling and or reuse of particular types of non-toxic waste; and (6) provide potable water and adequate lavatory facilities in all work camps for labor use and management.
