[경제] Aquaculture Sector in Colombia: Uncovering Sustainability, Transformative Potential, and Trends Through Bibliometric and Patent Analysis

This research presents a bibliometric and patent analysis of the development of aquaponics in Colombia. Therefore, an exhaustive search for data and patents specifically related to aquaponics in Colombia was carried out, excluding non-relevant data, using databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, SCIELO, ProQuest, and Orbit Intelligence. It is important to note the constant growth of this industry, driven by genetic improvements, innovation in production systems, and optimization of growing conditions. However, challenges persist such as access to quality water, and in addition to this, inadequate wastewater treatment. This situation generates concern about food security. The analysis reveals that the National University of Colombia leads in publications on aquaponics, while the University of Magdalena leads collaboration networks in the country. In contrast to these advances, private sector participation is still low in research and development (R&D) in aquaponics, indicating the need for greater integration between the public and private sectors. Finally, significant progress has been made in aquaponics, but Colombia still faces very important challenges in terms of water treatment and private industry participation in R&D. Therefore, it is important to address these challenges comprehensively to guarantee sustainable development in Colombian aquaculture and in other regions of Latin America.
